This development is high-end student accomodation, in the heart of Bristol. The development included 3 blocks and a basement, the highest of which was 10 stories.

The structure was of reinforced concrete, flat-slab construction and founded on piles. Careful analysis was required to verify the complex cantilever transfer structure at the front of the tower.

Extensive research was undertaken to understand the existing site conditions and de-risk the site. This highlighted an existing public sewer and a coal seam located deep beneath the site, both of which required consideration in the design. Site investigations allowed for the partial re-use of the existing ground bearing slab.

With thanks to Heyne Tillett Steel for allowing the use of these images.
